Strategy Based Diagnostics

Review the system operations in order to familiarize yourself with the system functions. Refer to Transmission General Description .

Visual/Physical Inspection

    • Inspect the easily accessible or visible system components for obvious damage or conditions which could cause the symptom.
    • Inspect the manual transmission for the correct fluid level.
    • Inspect the manual transmission for fluid leaks.
    • Inspect the manual transmission for broken or loose transmission mounts.

Intermittent

Test the vehicle under the same conditions that the customer reported in order to verify the system is operating properly.

Symptom List

Refer to a symptom diagnostic procedure from the following list in order to diagnose the symptom:

    •  Knock at Low Speeds
    •  Noise Most Pronounced on Turns
    •  Transmission Clunk on Acceleration or Deceleration
    •  Vibration Diagnosis
    •  Noisy in Neutral with Engine Running
    •  Slips out of Gear
    •  Fluid Leak Diagnosis and Repair
