🢒 Park/Neutral Position Switch Replacement
Removal Procedure
Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
.
Remove the battery. Refer to
Battery Replacement
.
Remove the battery tray. Refer to
Battery Tray Replacement
.
Separate the transmission control cable assembly
Remove the nut (1) and disconnect the control cable assembly from the control shaft lever.
Remove the clip and disconnect the control cable assembly from the control cable bracket.
Disconnect the connector from the park/neutral position switch assembly.
Remove the nut (1), washer and control shaft lever.
Pry out the lock plate and remove the manual valve shaft nut (1).
Remove the bolts (1, 2) and pull out the park/neutral position switch assembly.
Installation Procedure
Install the park/neutral position switch assembly to the automatic transaxle.
Hand tighten the bolts (1, 2).
Caution:
Refer to
Fastener Caution
in the Preface section.
Replace the lock plate with a new one and tighten the manual valve shaft nut (1) to
7 N·m (62 lb in)
.
Install the control shaft lever.
Turn the lever counterclockwise until it stops, then turn it clockwise two notches.
Remove the control shaft lever.
Align the groove with the neutral base line (1).
Hold the switch in this position and tighten the bolts to
5 N·m (44 lb in)
.
Using a screwdriver, stake the nut with the lock plate.
Install the control shaft lever with the nut (1) and washer and tighten the nut to
13 N·m (10 lb ft)
.
Connect the connector to the park/neutral position switch assembly.
Install the transmission control cable assembly to the control shaft lever with the nut (1) and tighten to
12 N·m (106 lb in)
.
Install the transmission control cable assembly to the bracket with a new clip.
Install the battery tray. Refer to
Battery Tray Replacement
.
Install the battery. Refer to
Battery Replacement
.
Connect the cable to the negative battery terminal. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
.
Inspect the shift lever position.
Adjust the shift lever position.
Inspect the park/neutral position switch assembly.
