DTC Descriptors

DTC P0500: Vehicle Speed Sensor Malfunction

DTC P0503: Vehicle Speed Sensor "A" Intermittent/Erratic/High

Circuit Description

The cruise control system uses the same vehicle speed signal that is sent to the engine control module (ECM). If DTC P0500 is detected, perform diagnostic in engine controls section.

Conditions for Running the DTC

The cruise control is in operation.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

P0500

The vehicle speed signal from the vehicle speed sensor is cut for 0.14 second or more while cruise control is in operation.

P0503

A momentary interruption and noise are detected when a rapid change of vehicle speed occurs while cruise control is in operation.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

Cruise control is disabled.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

The DTC will clear when conditions for setting the DTC have been repaired.
