Rattle or Squeak in Instrument Cluster Trim Bezel Area

When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

A rattle squeak itch type noise coming from the instrument cluster area.

Inspect the instrument trim bezel to determine if the noise is coming from it's mounting tabs. If the noise is in this area:

1. Remove the bezel by pulling the bezel away from the upper instrument panel.
2. Apply a thin strip of felt tape, GM part number 12378189, to the white plastic retaining clips attached to the back side of the bezel.
3. Reinstall bezel and re-evaluate the original concern.

Note: It may be necessary, that the same felt tape will have to also be applied to the lower center tab in the instrument cluster lens.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
