Door Check Strap Hitting the Door Glass/Regulator - kw check front noise pop scratch window

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.

The Customer might notice a thump/pop noise when closing the doors. After further investigation the Technician might notice that the door check link is hitting the door glass/regulator assembly.

If the check link is hitting the door glass/regulator assembly then replace the check strap with new design. This newer design has a slightly different shape to it and will clear the glass/regulator assembly.

Check strap P/N # 88973010 (driver) P/N # 88973009 (passenger)

Note: This condition is caused by over extending the doors making the door frame flex enough and concave it.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
