The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
A customer may report an intermittent red OnStar® status LED. The technician may find a history or current DTC B2476 in the VCIM. The OnStar® status LED will be illuminated red if the DTC is current.
Recommendation/Instructions:
This may be a normal condition.
With the DTC current, the technician should perform an OnStar® key press. If the OnStar® keypad does respond then the B2476 is a false code and is caused by a software anomaly. Do not replace the VCIM in this scenario. Per OnStar® engineering
this condition can only occur in Continental (Motorola) built VCIMs (refer to STID ranges above) and does not affect the operation of the OnStar® system.
If the DTC B2476 is found to be current AND the keypad does not respond then the technician should follow published diagnostic procedures for the DTC in eSI.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
