Adding Engine Oil - Camshaft Cover Baffle Precautions

To prevent damaging the baffle located inside the camshaft cover, care must be taken when adding engine oil. The baffle is designed to deflect oil and should not be used to support the weight of the fill devices. Rough treatment or the weight of this equipment can place unnecessary stress on the baffle and damage it. Follow the caution below to avoid damaging the baffle when adding engine oil.

Caution: Use care when inserting oil fill devices into the camshaft cover. Forcefully inserting oil fill devices or funnels into the oil fill hole may result in baffle damage during the oil fill process. It the baffle does become damaged, repair it to prevent any additional engine damage from occurring.
