DEFINITION: This table diagnoses the rear wiper operates normally but will not return to the park position when the rear wiper switch is turned to the OFF position.

Did you review the Rear Wiper/Washer System Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Verify that the rear wiper will not park when the wiper switch is turned to OFF.

Does the rear wiper park?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the rear wiper motor connector.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Test the park control circuit of the rear wiper motor for ignition positive voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 10

  1. Disconnect the rear wiper relay 2.
  2. Test the park switch circuit for a short to voltage or an open condition between the rear wiper relay 2 and the rear wiper motor . Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

With the rear wiper relay 2 still disconnected, connect a fused jumper between the park switch circuit and the wiper motor feed circuit at the rear wiper relay 2.

Does the rear wiper park?

Go to Step 6

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the wiper/washer switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs .

Go to Step 10

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the rear wiper motor. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs .

Replace the rear wiper relay 2.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 10

Replace the rear wiper motor. Refer to Liftgate Wiper Motor Replacement .
