Removal Procedure
- Remove the rear disc. Refer to
Rear Brake Rotor Replacement
in Disc Brakes.
- Remove the return springs (1,2).
- Remove the tension spring (1).
- Separate the adjuster (15) from the
front brake shoe (17).
- Remove the hold-down spring (16) and the pin (1) from the
front shoe.
- Remove the front shoe.
- Separate the adjuster from the rear brake shoe (8).
- Remove the adjuster and the adjuster strut (7).
- Disassemble the adjuster (10,11,15)
- Remove the hold-down spring (9) and the pin (2) from the
rear shoe.
- Separate the rear shoe from the park brake shoe lever (6).
- Remove the rear shoe.
- Remove the park brake shoe lever (2)
from the park brake cable (1).
- Inspect the park brake hardware. Refer to
Park Brake Hardware Inspection

Installation Procedure
- Apply Lubriplate® Lubricant, GM P/N 1050109
(Canadian P/N 5264008), or the equivalent, to the metal contact points
on the following components:
• | The park brake shoe lever (2) |
- Assemble the adjuster.
- Install the park brake shoe lever (2)
to the park brake cable (1).
- Install the park brake shoe lever (6)
and the rear shoe (8).
- Install the pin (2) and the hold-down spring (9) to the
rear shoe.
- Install the adjuster (10,11,15) and the adjuster strut (7)
to the rear shoe.
- Install the front shoe (17).
- Install the pin (1) and the hold-down spring (16) to the
front shoe.
- Connect the adjuster to the front shoe.
- Install the tension spring (1).
- Install the return springs (1,2).
- Install the rear disc. Refer to
Rear Brake Rotor Replacement
in Disc Brakes.
- Adjust the park brake. Refer to
Park Brake Adjustment
