Intermittent Loss of ECBM Communications While Driving with Tech 2 - keywords ABS brakes drive inoperative speed

Subject:Intermittent Loss of EBCM Communications While Driving With Tech 2

Models:2003-2005 Pontiac Vibe

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.

Condition/Concern:

You might notice that the EBCM will intermittently stop communicating with the Tech2 while driving above approximately 40 mph (65kph) No DTCs will be set.

Recommendation/Instructions:

If you're monitoring the EBCM data on the Tech2 while driving above approximately 40mph (65kph), you may notice that about every 30 seconds, the Tech2 screen will read "loss of communication" for 2-3 seconds. This loss of communication will not set any DTCs. This is a normal operating anomaly that is characteristic of the Lucas/Sumitomo system and the EBCM should not be replaced for this condition alone.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
