Glass Hatch Release

The glass hatch may be released by one of the following methods:

    • inserting the key into the liftgate lock and turning it clockwise to the second position.
    • Pressing the glass hatch actuator switch located on the instrument panel to the left of the steering wheel.
    • Pressing the hatch button on the keyless entry fob for more than 2 seconds.

Functional Operation

The electrical operation of the glass hatch release is controlled by the multifunction alarm module. The multifunction alarm module will provide 12 volts to the glass hatch actuator when it receives:

    • A hatch signal from the remote control door lock receiver.
    • A ground from the glass hatch actuator switch.

The glass hatch actuator is permanently grounded at G300.

If the glass hatch is ajar, the glass hatch courtesy switch closes and provides a ground to the multifunction alarm module which will light the dome lights. It will also disable the LOCK function on the keyless entry fob.

Liftgate

The liftgate may be operated by one of the following methods:

    • Inserting the key into the liftgate lock.
    • Operating the power door lock switches.
    • Using the keyless entry fob.

Functional Operation

The liftgate operates in the same manner as the power door locks. The lock and unlock circuits for the liftgate are connected to the left rear door lock actuator. If the liftgate power lock/unlock function is inoperable and the left rear door is operational, the problem will be between the left rear door lock actuator and the liftgate.

If the liftgate is ajar, the liftgate courtesy switch closes and provides a ground to the multifunction alarm module which will light the dome lights. It will also disable the LOCK function on the keyless entry fob.
