Go to Diagnostic Starting Point - Vehicle in Vehicle DTC Information

  1. Insert a CD magazine, with at least 1 audio CD, into the CD player.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Turn ON the radio.
  4. Attempt to play the CD in the CD player.

Does the remote CD operate?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Test for ignition supply voltage at the remote CD player. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 8

Test the remote CD player ground circuit for an open condition. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 8

Test the remote CD player control circuit for an open or short to ground condition. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the CD player. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the CD player.
