Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  3. Clean the brake hose and the fittings.

  4. Object Number: 815512  Size: SH
  5. Loosen the brake hose to brake pipe fitting.
  6. Remove the brake hose retainer.
  7. Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Caution in the Preface section.

    Notice: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Notice in the Preface section.

  8. Remove the brake hose from the brake pipe.
  9. Install a cap or a plug to the brake pipe fitting in order to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

  10. Object Number: 821349  Size: SH
  11. Remove the bolt (1) from the bracket.
  12. Remove the brake hose from the bracket.

  13. Object Number: 817150  Size: SH
  14. Remove the fitting (2) from the caliper.
  15. Remove the brake hose (1) from the caliper.
  16. Remove and discard the brake hose gasket.
  17. Install a cap or a plug to the caliper in order to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

Installation Procedure

  1. Remove the cap or the plug from the caliper.

  2. Object Number: 817150  Size: SH
  3. Install the following components to the caliper:
  4. • A NEW brake hose gasket
    • The fitting (2)
    • The brake hose (1)

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Tighten the fitting.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 29 N·m (21.4 lb ft).

  7. Install the brake hose (4) to the bracket.
  8. Install the bolt (1).
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 29 N·m (21.4 lb ft).

  10. Remove the cap or the plug from the brake pipe.

  11. Object Number: 815512  Size: SH
  12. Install the brake hose and the retainer to the brake pipe.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 15.2 N·m (11.21 lb ft).

    Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Caution in the Preface section.

    Notice: Refer to Filling the Master Cylinder Notice in the Preface section.

  14. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding .
  15. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  16. Lower the vehicle.
