Removal Procedure

  1. If necessary, raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. If necessary, remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .

  3. Object Number: 1248101  Size: SH
  4. Clean the brake pipe (1) and the fittings (2).
  5. Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Caution in the Preface section.

    Notice: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Notice in the Preface section.

  6. Loosen the brake pipe fittings.
  7. If necessary, remove the brake pipe retainers (3).
  8. If necessary, remove the brake pipe from the brackets.
  9. Remove the brake pipe from the vehicle.
  10. Install caps or plugs to the brake pipes on the vehicle in order to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

Installation Procedure

  1. Remove the caps or the plugs from the brake pipes.

  2. Object Number: 1248101  Size: SH

    Important: Consult the parts catalog for the brake pipe routing illustrations and the part numbers.

  3. Install the brake pipe (1) and the fittings (2).
  4. Install the brake pipe to the brackets as necessary.
  5. Install the brake pipe retainers (3) as necessary.
  6. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding .
  7. If you removed a tire and wheel assembly, install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  8. If you raised the vehicle, lower the vehicle.
  9. Inspect the hydraulic brake system for leaks. Repair as necessary. Refer to Brake System External Leak Inspection .
