Brake Proportion Valve Replacement Non-ABS

Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Caution in the Preface section.

    Notice: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 815132  Size: SH
  1. Clean the outside of the reservoir and the reservoir cap (4).
  2. Remove the reservoir cap.
  3. Remove the reservoir diaphragm.
  4. Remove the brake fluid with a syringe.

  5. Object Number: 878663  Size: SH
  6. Clean the proportioning valve (7) and the brake pipes.
  7. Remove the 5 brake pipes from the proportioning valve.
  8. Remove the 2 bolts (5, 6).
  9. Remove the proportioning valve.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 878663  Size: SH
  1. Install the proportioning valve (7) and the 2 bolts (5, 6) to the cowl.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 5.4 N·m (47.79 lb in).

  3. Install the brake pipes to the proportioning valve.
  4. Tighten the flare nuts (1, 2, 3, 4, 8)
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the flare nuts to 15.2 N·m (11.2 lb ft).

  6. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding .
