Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the right front tire and wheel assembly from the vehicle. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  3. Remove the right front engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement - Right Side .

  4. Object Number: 820256  Size: SH
  5. Remove the bolt (2) from the power steering pump outlet pipe bracket.
  6. Place a drain pan under the vehicle in order to catch the draining fluid.
  7. Notice: Refer to Power Steering Hose Disconnected Notice in the Preface section.

  8. Remove the outlet pipe fitting (1) from the pump.
  9. Remove the outlet union from the pump.
  10. Remove the gasket.
  11. Remove the flow control valve from the pump.
  12. Remove the spring from the pump.
  13. Inspect the spring. Replace the spring if necessary.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Using Proper Power Steering Fluid Notice in the Preface section.

  1. Apply fluid to the spring. Refer to Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations .
  2. Install the spring to the pump.
  3. Apply fluid to the flow control valve.
  4. Install the flow control valve to the pump.
  5. Apply fluid to the gasket.
  6. Install the gasket to the union.
  7. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  8. Install the union to the pump.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the union to 69 N·m (50.9 lb ft).

    Notice: Refer to Installing Hoses without Twists or Bends Notice in the Preface section.

  10. Install the outlet pipe fitting (1) to the pump.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 41 N·m (30.2 lb ft).

  12. Install the outlet pipe clamp bolt (2).
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 7.8 N·m (69.04 lb in).

  14. Install the right front tire and wheel assembly to the vehicle. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  15. Lower the vehicle.
  16. Fill the reservoir. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid .
  17. Inspect the power steering system for leaks. Repair as necessary.
  18. Install the right front engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement - Right Side .
  19. Notice: Refer to Title not found in the Preface section.

  20. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
