The electronic brake control module (EBCM) monitors the deceleration of the vehicle for Antilock Brake System (ABS) operation.
This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTC:
DTC C1245 Deceleration Sensor
DTC C1245 can be set anytime the ignition switch is in the ON position.
The EBCM detects the calculated difference between the deceleration sensor signal and the vehicle speed exceeds 0.35 g.
The ABS warning indicator turns ON.
The condition responsible for setting the DTC no longer exists and the scan tool Clear DTCs function is used.
Thoroughly inspect the wiring and the connectors. An incomplete inspection of the wiring and the connectors may result in a misdiagnosis, causing a part replacement with the reappearance of the malfunction.
The following are possible causes of the malfunction:
• | An open or high resistance in the deceleration or yaw rate sensor voltage circuit |
• | An open or high resistance in the deceleration or yaw rate sensor ground circuit |
• | A deceleration or yaw rate sensor malfunction |
• | An internal EBCM malfunction |
If an intermittent malfunction exists, refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections .
The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.
Test the sensor voltage circuit for a high resistance, an open, or a short.
Test the sensor ground circuit for a high resistance or open.
