Shifting from 1st to 4th (O/D) is performed in combination with "ON" and "OFF" operation of the shift solenoid valves SL1 and SL2 which is controlled by the engine control module (ECM). If an open or short circuit occurs in either of the shift solenoid valves, the ECM controls the remaining normal shift solenoid valve to allow the vehicle to be operated smoothly (fail safe function). The ECM will illuminate the MIL and store the DTC.
This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTC:
• | DTC P0982 Shift Solenoid "D" Control Circuit Low (Shift Solenoid Valve S4) |
• | DTC P0983 Shift Solenoid "D" Control Circuit High (Shift Solenoid Valve S4) |
The engine is running.
The ECM detects short in solenoid valve two times when valve is operated.
The ECM detects an open in solenoid valve two times when solenoid valve in not operated.
• | DTCs P0982 and P0983 are type C DTCs. |
• | The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) illuminates the first time the diagnostic runs with the fault active. |
The DTC will clear when conditions for setting the DTC have been repaired.
