The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

The customer might comment that the steering wheel has to much play (side to side) when driving. The looseness might be coming from the Rack and Pinion.

You are to adjust the steering rack bearing preload (refer to the appropriate SI Document ID #) BEFORE replacing the steering rack assembly for this condition.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
