The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
One of the automatic transmission-operating characteristic for the 2004 through 2007 Aveo/Waves when the transmission's fluid temperature is below 15°C (59°F) is descibed below.
Recommendation/Instructions:
The 4th gear up-shifts are prevented. This is designed to provide improved vehicle emissions and heater performance. Please do not attempt to repair this condition. You can find the transmission's shift control description at the bottom of SI document 1339794 for 2004-2007 Aveo/Waves.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
