DEFINITION: The content theft deterrent (CTD) system will not ARM or DISARM properly.

Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

Go to Step 2

  1. Make sure the rear liftgate/liftglass is closed completely.
  2. Turn on the ignition with the engine OFF.
  3. Observe the Hatch/Gate indicator in the instrument panel cluster (IPC).

Does the Hatch/Gate indicator stay ON?

Go to Rear Hatch/Gate Ajar Indicator Indicator Malfunction in Body Rear End

Go to Step 3

  1. Open the driver window.
  2. Unlock the doors using the power door lock switch or the keyless entry transmitter.
  3. Remove the keys from the ignition.
  4. Open the driver door.
  5. Observe the SECURITY telltale.

Does the SECURITY telltale flash?

Go to Step 4

  1. Lock the vehicle using the power door lock switches or the keyless entry transmitter.
  2. Observe the SECURITY telltale.

Does the SECURITY telltale change from flashing to on steady?

Go to Step 5

  1. Close all of the doors and rear liftgate/liftglass.
  2. Important: Ensure that all the doors and liftgate/liftglass are closed. The content theft deterrent system will not arm itself without all of the doors being closed.

  3. Observe the SECURITY telltale.

Does the SECURITY telltale turn off in about 15 seconds?

Go to Step 6

  1. Reach in and manually unlock the driver door.
  2. Open the driver door.

Do all of the alarm mode functions activate (headlamps and parking lights flash and horn pulses)?

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 8

Disarm the CTD system by inserting the door key into the driver or the passenger door lock cylinder and rotate the key to the unlock position.

Do all of the alarm mode functions stop?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Content Theft Deterrent (CTD) Does Not Disarm with Key Lock in Theft Deterrent

Do any of the alarm functions activate?

Go to Step 9

Do the horns pulse only?
