With any of the following engines:
2.0L (VIN P - RPO LSJ)
2.2L (VIN D or F - RPO L61)
2.4L (VIN B or P - RPO LE5)
2.8L (VIN 8 - RPO LK5)
3.5L (VIN 6 - RPO L52)
4.2L (VIN S - RPO LL8)



The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Before the first oil change occurs, it may be noticed that the engine oil has a yellow - green tint that could be mistaken for crankcase contamination.

Recommendation/Instructions:

If the above concern is encountered, it is not necessary to change the engine oil and filter at an earlier interval just because of the yellow - green appearance of the engine oil. This yellow - green appearance is most likely due to engine oil dye that is added at the assembly plant during engine hot testing and does not alter the lubrication quality of the engine oil. If necessary, a black light can be used to determine if the yellow - green tint is due to engine oil dye that is installed at the factory.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
