Subject: | Rear Seat Entertainment DVD System Produces "Pop" Noise in Speakers When Ignition Switch is in RUN or ACC Position or When Retained Accessory Power Feature is Used(Replace Rear Seat Entertainment DVD System) |
Models: | 2006 Saab 9-7X |
Equipped with Rear Seat Entertainment DVD System (RPOs U32 and U42) |
Some customers may comment about an audio "pop" noise produced by the speakers. The audio "pop" noise can occur if the vehicle is re-started after the following condition: The vehicle ignition is On and the DVD system is operating, then the ignition is turned to accessory (ACC) or to off RAP, (DVD still playing). If the driver does not exit the vehicle and the vehicle is re-started, there could be an audio "pop" noise produced by the speakers.
The rear seat entertainment (RSE) DVD system does not mute the audio "pop" noise.
Important: This RSE DVD system replacement with new software is for audio "pop" noise cases in the 2006 Saab 9-7X only.
Replace the RSE DVD system with a new RSE DVD system. The new RSE DVD system includes updated software that extends the mute time required to eliminate the audio "pop" noise. Do NOT replace the radio, speakers, amplifier, rear seat audio control module, or XM module.
Refer to Video Display Replacement (Without Sunroof) in SI to remove and replace the video display assembly.
Important: Verify that the DVD software version installed on the RSE DVD system is EGO.156. Use a Tech 2 to determine the DVD software version installed on the RSE DVD system. The Tech 2 must be updated to release 26.001 or greater. If you cannot access Tech 2 release 26.001, call the Techline Customer Support Center (TCSC) at 1-800-828-6860 (English), 1-800-503-3222 (French) and it will be provided.
From Diagnostics Menu select Model Year > LD Trk, MPV, Incomplete > Make > C or K > Body > Disc Player and Video Display > ID Information > DVD software version: (EGO.156).
Important: U.S. and Canadian dealers/retailers must obtain parts from an authorized Electronic Service Center (ESC).
