New Part Availability and Service Procedure for Roof Panel

The service part for left and right side Module, RF S/RL Infl Rst has been superseded to the most current production part, which has a different shaped discharge tube that creates an interference fit with earlier model vehicles (vehicles built prior to January 2007 will need this modification). The inner roof will come in contact with the inflatable restraint module tube and will not allow installation. Refer to the illustration. Follow the service procedure below for inner roof panel modification and installation above.

Modify the inner roof following the procedure below.

1. Remove the headliner following the SI procedures.
2. Remove the roof side rail inflatable restraint module following the SI procedures.



3. Draw two lines on the inner roof panel up to the radius. Refer to the illustration above.

Important: Protect the interior for the next step.

4. Using a reciprocating hack saw, cut the inner roof panel following the lines drawn in step 3.
5. Fold the sheet metal upward to make clearance for the inflatable restraint module.
6. File all the edges down smooth.
7. Apply duct tape over the cut edges.



8. Install the roof side rail inflatable restraint module following the SI procedures and check for clearance. Refer to the illustration above.
9. Install the headliner following the SI procedures.
