Subject: | EV Cooling Fan Inoperative When Commanded On with Tech 2 |
Models: | 2007 Buick Rainier |
| 2007 Chevrolet TrailBlazer |
| with 4.2L Engine (VIN S - RPO LL8) |
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Some technicians may find that the EV cooling fan will not operate when it is commanded on with Tech 2 version 26.007 or lower.
Recommendation/Instructions:
This may be the result of a Tech 2 issue that will be corrected on Tech 2 software version 26.008, which should be released during the 1st week of September 2006.
As a temporary work around, the EV cooling fan can be commanded on by turning the air conditioning on and running the engine at 2,000 RPM for a few minutes while monitoring the EV cooling fan speed parameter on the Tech 2. If EV cooling fan speed increases,
the EV cooling fan is working as designed. If EV cooling fan noise does not increase, follow the SI diagnostics and repair as necessary.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
