The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Some customers may comment on a 1-2 harsh shift or a slip bump on a 1-2 shift. These comments will typically occur on vehicles that have less than 100 miles.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Shift adapts have been given much greater capability. These adapts can greatly improve 1-2 upshift feel but need upshifts to work. Make sure the vehicle has at least 100 miles of varied driving conditions before attempting to evaluate the 1-2 upshifts.

If the harsh shifts continue after at least 100 miles of varied driving refer to the latest version of PIP3170 for possible causes of harsh 1-2 shifts. When inspecting the 1-2 accumulator assembly it is important to note that all transmission models use an inner spring (104) but many models do not use an outer spring (54). For the 2007 model year the following is a breakdown of spring usage by transmission broadcast code:

These models use 2 springs (104 & 56).
