Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle prior to using this diagnostic procedure.

Cruise Control Set / Coast Switch Signal | Cruise Control Inoperative / Malfunctioning | Cruise Control Inoperative / Malfunctioning | P0568 00 | -- |
The cruise control set/coast switch is an input to the powertrain control module (PCM)/engine control module (ECM). The PCM/ECM uses the cruise control set/coast switch signal circuit in order to detect when the driver has requested to set the vehicle speed or to decelerate the vehicle speed. The PCM/ECM detects a voltage signal on the cruise control set/coast switch signal circuit when the switch is applied. This DTC sets if the PCM/ECM senses voltage on the cruise control set/coast switch signal circuit for longer than 90 seconds.
• | The ignition is ON. |
• | The cruise control On/Off switch is ON. |
The PCM/ECM detects the set/coast switch is ON for longer than 90 seconds.
• | The PCM/ECM stores the DTC information into memory when the diagnostic runs and fails. |
• | The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) will not illuminate. |
• | The PCM/ECM records the operating conditions at the time the diagnostic fails. The PCM/ECM stores this information in the Failure Records. |
• | The cruise control system is disabled. |
• | The DTC becomes history when the conditions for setting the DTC are no longer present. |
• | The history DTC clears after 50 malfunction-free warm-up cycles. |
• | The PCM/ECM receives a clear code command from the scan tool. |
• | Ensure that the set/coast switch is not stuck or sticking in the engaged position. |
• | For an intermittent condition, refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections. |
Ignition ON, cruise control On/Off switch ON, observe the scan tool Cruise Resume/Accel. Switch while toggling the resume/accel switch from R/A to On. The reading should change between On and Off.
⇒ | If the scan tool parameter reads On, test the cruise control set/coast switch signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the PCM/ECM. |
⇒ | If not the specified value, replace the multifunction switch. |
Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure.
