2008 GMC Envoy, Envoy XL
2008 SAAB 9-7x

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Engineering has identified an intermittent GPS condition for OnStar® on 2008 GMT360 series vehicles. There is a suspected GPS antenna coax connector issue where the coax meets the VCIM plug in. The concern is on the coax side of the connector. It has been determined that the actual connector internally is out of spec and may be slightly too large. This may cause an intermittent or no GPS condition due to a poor connection.

The supplier has certified their material at the assembly plant and all vehicles built PRIOR to 9/24/07 may encounter this concern. This may or may not set a B2484 DTC and red LED. A B2484 may also be in history as a result of this issue.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Do not replace the VCIM. If the vehicle has a vehicle build date PRIOR to 9/24/07, replacement of the GPS coax is suggested.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
