The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Some customers may comment of an intermittent Service Stability indicator or Stability Active indicator on the IP or DIC with history DTC C0196. Another concern may be unwanted Stability Activation with no DTC's. This may due to a calibration concern within
the EBCM.
Recommendation/Instructions:
After following normal diagnostics in SI with no problem found, Reflash EBCM (Electronic Brake Control Module) with updated software listed in TIS2WEB as "New operating system to address false DTC C0196. The EBCM is referred to as the VSES (Vehicle Stability
Enhancement System Control Module) in TIS2WEB.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
