Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
- Raise and support the rear axle at the designed D-height. Refer to
Trim Height Specifications.
Note: When disconnecting the rear axle tie rod, the air suspension system must be depressurized or the body may shift during the repair.
- If equipped with air suspension, depressurize the air suspension system. Refer to
Air Suspension Depressurization.
- Remove the rear axle tie rod to the axle mounting bolt and nut.
- Remove the rear axle tie rod to frame mounting bolt and nut.
- Remove the rear axle tie rod from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
Note: When installing the rear axle tie rod the bushings inner sleeve off set (largest gap) is towards the rear axle.
- Install the rear axle tie rod to the vehicle.
- Install the rear axle tie rod to frame mounting bolt and nut.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Install the rear axle tie rod to the axle mounting bolt and nut and tighten to
190 N·m (140 lb ft).
- Remove the rear axle support.
- Lower the vehicle.
