DEFINITION: Use this chart if either the front or the rear fog lamp is always on.

Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

Go to Step 2

  1. Turn the ignition to the ON position.
  2. Press the fog lamp switch to the OFF position.

Are the fog lamps OFF?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Go to Step 3

Remove the fog lamp relay. Refer to Relay Replacement .

Do the fog lamps turn OFF?

Go to Step 4

Probe the control circuit of the frt fog relay with a test lamp that is connected to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

Test the fog lamp voltage supply circuit for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Go to Step 13

Test the control circuit of the frt fog relay for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Inspect for poor connections at the frt fog relay. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs .

Inspect for poor connections at the fuse block - underhood. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs .

Inspect for poor connections at the body control module (BCM). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs .

Replace the frt fog relay. Refer to Relay Replacement .

Replace the fuse block - underhood. Refer to Underhood Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement .

Replace the BCM. Refer to Control Module References for replacement, setup, and programming.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
