Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Is the windshield washer fluid pump ON?

Go to Step 3

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Disconnect the windshield wiper/washer switch connector.

Does the windshield washer fluid pump stop?

Go to Step 6

Important: When testing for shorts make sure the ignition is ON with the engine OFF.

  1. Disconnect the harness connector from the body control module (BCM) that contains the windshield washer signal switch control circuit.
  2. Test the windshield washer signal switch control circuit from the switch harness connector for a short to ground and a short to B+. Refer to Testing for a Short to Voltage and Wiring Repairs .

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 8

  1. Disconnect the harness connector containing the windshield washer fluid pump control circuit.
  2. Test the windshield washer fluid pump control circuit to the pump for a short to voltage. Refer to Testing for a Short to Voltage and Wiring Repairs .

Replace the windshield wiper/washer switch. Refer to Turn Signal Multifunction Switch Replacement .

Replace the BCM. Refer to Control Module References for replacement, setup, and programming.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
