The heated outside rearview mirrors operate when the rear window defogger is turned ON and will turn OFF when the rear window defogger is turned OFF.
The rear window defogger controls the heated outside rearview mirror.

Vehicle Access Connector End Views
Ignition ON, engage the rear window defogger. Touch the outside rearview mirror face. The heated mirror face should warm up after about a minute.
⇒ | If greater than 1 ohm, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance. |
⇒ | If the test lamp remains ON all the time, test for a short to voltage on the control circuit. |
⇒ | If the test lamp remains OFF all the time, test for a short to ground or an open/high resistance on the control circuit. |
⇒ | If the resistance is not within the specified range, replace the appropriate heated outside mirror face. |
Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure.
