The steering column mounting bolts are loose.

Tighten the pivot bolt and the mounting bolts to specification.

The steering gear is loosely mounted.

Tighten the steering gear mounting bolts to specification.

The tie rod ends are loose or damaged.

If necessary, inspect for damage and replace the tie rod ends. Refer to Rack and Pinion Outer Tie Rod End Replacement .
