Park Lamp Fuse Open, Parking Lights, Interior Accent Lighting, And Dimmer Lighting Inoperative - keywords accent backlight dim dimmer display door front handle incandescent IPC lighting screw short

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Some customers may comment that their Parking lamps may not work. They may also comment the interior courtesy/accent lighting in the overhead console and front door handles do not light up when the headlamps are on. The instrument cluster will also not dim. They may also state the Park Lamp fuse in the rear fuse block (Trunk) is open.

The wire for the accent (courtesy) lighting in the front door handle may be pinched by the door handle retaining screw (can happen on both sides). The complaint may be able to be duplicated by installing a new fuse and then opening and closing the front door with the headlamps on. This will determine which door contains the short. Remove door assembly and inspect wiring harness on the door assembly that goes to the courtesy lamps. Repair chaffed wire if found.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
