Subject: | Driver's Power Seat Adjuster Inoperative, DRV ST Fuse #2 Open (Repair Seat Wiring Harness) |
| with 8-Way Power Seat Adjuster (RPO AE8) |
Condition
Some customers may comment that the driver's power seat adjuster is inoperative. Technicians may find that the DRV ST fuse #2 in the rear fuse block is open.
Cause
This condition may be caused by the power seat wiring harness chafing on a corner of a crossbeam that is a part of the seat frame.
Correction
Technicians are to repair the driver's power seat adjuster wiring harness using the following procedure:
- Move the driver's seat to the full forward and upward position. If the seat will not move due to an open DRV ST #2 fuse, replace the fuse and attempt to move the seat. If the seat still cannot be moved if may be necessary to remove the seat in order
to gain access to the seat cushion outer trim panel on the left side of the lower seat cushion.
- Remove and reposition the driver's seat cushion outer trim panel (4) to gain access to the seat wiring harness and the left side of the seat frame. Refer to the Seat Cushion Outer Trim Panel Replacement procedure in SI.
- Use a punch to reposition the corner of the seat frame crossmember downward (1) so that the seat wiring harness cannot come in contact with the corner.
- Repair the seat wiring harness as necessary. Refer to the Wiring Repairs section of SI for more information.
- Before installing the seat cushion outer trim panel, make sure the wiring harness is routed above the shelf on the panel (2). The seat wiring harness retainers (1) must be fully seated in the seat cushion side trim panel so that
the wiring harness is properly positioned in the seat.
- Carefully install the seat cushion side trim panel so that proper positioning of the seat wiring harness is maintained after the trim panel is installed.
- Check the operation of the power seat adjuster.
