Subject:Content Theft Arming/ Disarming Procedure Is Different Than Owners Manual

Models:2007 Chevrolet Malibu/Maxx & 2007 Saturn Aura

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Some 2007 Aura's and Malibu's built between VIN 7F269083 and 7F269378 have the content theft deterrent that does not arm and disarm in ways listed in the owners manual.

The changes are:

  1. Locking the doors with the power door lock switch in the door will not arm the system. Pushing the remote keyless entry transmitter lock button must be used to arm the system.
  2. Unlocking the door at the drivers door lock switch will not disarm the system. Pushing the remote keyless entry transmitter unlock button will disarm the system or turning the ignition switch to on will disarm the system.

This mode of operation is normal for this range of cars stated above, no work should be performed. Later in the 2007 model year both Aura's and Malibu's will switch to these operating characteristics and the owners' manual will have a supplement explaining these changes.
