Subject:Power Steering Fluid Leak From Inlet Hose To Reservoir

Models:2007 Saturn Aura XE prior to VIN 7F291114 breakpoint



The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Inspect for a spring clamp retainer still retained to the clamp on power steering return hose (next to generator). This spring clamp will be on the power steering pump inlet metal pipe going to the power steering reservoir.

Note: The Inlet line is the one on the left side of the following picture.

(1) Correct clamp and routing

Retainer on spring clamp - remove retainer if its on the clamp.


Object Number: 1989750  Size: SH

(2) Incorrect, still has assembly retainer on clamp.

Recommendation/Instructions:

If spring clamp retainer is present, verify hose is in correct position and remove clamp retainer tool. Verify proper level of power steering fluid and start the vehicle then check for leaks.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
