Removal Procedure

    Warning: Do not strike or jolt the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM). Before applying power to the SDM, make sure that it is securely fastened with the arrow facing toward the front of the vehicle. Failure to observe the correct installation procedure could cause SIR deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
  2. Remove the console. Refer to Console Replacement.
  3. Remove the automatic transmission shift control, if equipped. Refer to Transmission Control Replacement.
  4. Remove the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module nuts.
  5. Remove the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module wire harness connector.

  7. Remove the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1208028  Size: SH
  1. Point the arrow on the SDM toward the front of the vehicle.
  2. Install the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module.
  3. Install the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module wire harness connector.
  4. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  5. Install the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module nuts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  7. Install the automatic transmission shift control, if equipped. Refer to Transmission Control Replacement.
  8. Install the console. Refer to Console Replacement.
  9. Note: The AIR BAG indicator may remain ON after the SDM has been replaced. DTC B1001 may set requiring the SDM part number to be set in multiple modules. If the indicator remains ON after enabling the SIR system, perform the diagnostic system check and follow the steps thoroughly to ensure that the SDM is set properly.   10. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
  11. Program the inflatable restraint sensing module after replacement. Refer to Control Module References.
