MK-6340 Locking Tool

  1. Clean the 4 rear timing belt cover threads.
  2. Apply red locking compound to the 4 NEW rear timing belt cover bolts.
  3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  4. Install the rear timing belt cover and NEW bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  6. Clip in the wiring trough cover.
  7. Important: Screw in the intake camshaft adjuster bolt, but do not tighten.

  8. Install the intake camshaft adjuster.
  9. Important: Screw in the exhaust camshaft adjuster bolt, but do not tighten.

  10. Install the exhaust camshaft adjuster.
  11. Important: Note the markings on the camshaft sprockets.

  12. Insert the MK-6340 .
  13. Important: 2 mechanics are required.

  14. Tighten the exhaust camshaft adjuster to 65 N·m + 120 degrees + 15 degrees (48 lb ft + 120 degrees + 15 degrees).
  15. Counterhold at camshaft hexagon.

    Important: 2 mechanics are required.

  16. Tighten the intake camshaft adjuster to 65 N·m + 120 degrees + 15 degrees (48 lb ft + 120 degrees + 15 degrees).
  17. Counterhold at camshaft hexagon.

  18. Replace the exhaust camshaft adjuster seal ring.
  19. Install the exhaust camshaft adjuster bolt.
  20. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  21. Replace the intake camshaft adjuster seal ring.
  22. Install the intake camshaft adjuster bolt.
  23. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  24. Remove the MK-6340 .
