- Clean the 4 rear timing belt cover threads.
- Apply red locking compound to the 4 NEW rear timing belt cover bolts.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the rear timing belt cover and NEW bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 6 N·m (53 lb in).
- Clip in the wiring trough cover.
Important: Screw in the intake camshaft adjuster bolt, but do not tighten.
- Install the intake camshaft adjuster.
Important: Screw in the exhaust camshaft adjuster bolt, but do not tighten.
- Install the exhaust camshaft adjuster.
Important: Note the markings on the camshaft sprockets.
- Insert the
MK-6340
.
Important: 2 mechanics are required.
- Tighten the exhaust camshaft adjuster to 65 N·m + 120 degrees + 15 degrees (48 lb ft + 120 degrees + 15 degrees).
Counterhold at camshaft hexagon.

- Tighten the intake camshaft adjuster to 65 N·m + 120 degrees + 15 degrees (48 lb ft + 120 degrees + 15 degrees).

- Replace the exhaust camshaft adjuster seal ring.
- Install the exhaust camshaft adjuster bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).
- Replace the intake camshaft adjuster seal ring.
- Install the intake camshaft adjuster bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).
