Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to SIR Inflator Module Handling and Storage Caution in the Preface section.

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Disconnect the battery.
  2. Wait 1 minute for the airbag to deactivate.

  3. Object Number: 1941219  Size: SH
  4. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) compartment.
  5. • Open the I/P compartment cover.
    • Remove the 4 bolts (1).
    • Disconnect the wiring harness plug.
    • Remove the I/P compartment.

  6. Remove the sill inner paneling.
  7. • Release the 5 clips.
    • Remove the sill inner paneling (1).

    Object Number: 1946370  Size: LF
  8. Loosen the I/P padding.
  9. • Release the I/P padding cover, side.
    • Remove the bolt (1).
    • Remove the footwell screw (2).

    Object Number: 1937624  Size: LH
  10. Remove the airbag unit.
  11. • Remove the bolt (1).
    • Release and disconnect wiring harness plug.

    Important: Always set aside airbag module with padded side upwards.

  12. Remove the airbag module.
  13. • Lift the I/P padding on the right side.
    • Remove the airbag module from the guide.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the airbag module.
  2. • Lift the I/P padding on the right side.
    • Insert the airbag module in guide.
    • Connect and latch the wiring harness plug.

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Fasten the airbag module.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  5. Fasten the I/P padding.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the 2 bolts to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).

  7. Install the I/P padding cover, side.
  8. Install the sill inner paneling.
  9. Install the 5 clips.

  10. Install the I/P compartment.
  11. • Connect the wiring harness plug.
    • Insert the I/P compartment.

    Tighten
    Tighten the 4 bolts to 4 N·m (35 lb in).

    • Close the I/P compartment cover.
  12. Connect the battery.
  13. Perform the readiness inspection.
