Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to SIR Seatbelt Pretensioner Handling Caution in the Preface section.
Caution: In order to prevent accidental deployment and the risk of personal injury,
do not dispose of an undeployed inflatable restraint seat belt pretensioner as
normal shop waste. Undeployed seat belt pretensioners contain substances that could
cause severe illness or personal injury if their sealed containers are damaged during
disposal. Use the following deployment procedures to safely dispose of an undeployed
seat belt pretensioner. Failure to observe the following disposal methods may be
a violation of federal, state, or local laws.
- Remove the front seat belt trim panel (1).
Release and remove the panel upwards, (arrow).
- Remove the seat belt from the front seat.
Remove the bolt (2).
- Remove the upper center pillar inner paneling.
• | Loosen the upper center pillar panel in the lower area (2) and remove the upper center pillar panel. |
• | Remove the center pillar inner paneling. |
- Remove the complete sill strip.
• | Remove the inner paneling sill upwards. |
- Remove the lower center pillar inner paneling.
• | Remove the center pillar inner paneling. |
- Remove the seat belt.
• | Remove the belt height adjuster on center pillar (2). |
• | Remove the outer center pillar panel (3). |
• | Remove the reel retractor fastening nut and remove the seat belt. |
Installation Procedure
- Install the seat belt.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
Tighten
Tighten the reel retractor fastening nut to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
• | Install the outer center pillar panel. |
Tighten
Tighten the seat belt on center pillar height adjuster to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
- Install the lower center pillar inner paneling.
• | Insert the lower center pillar inner paneling. |
- Install the complete sill strip.
Install the 5 clips.
- Install the upper center pillar inner paneling.
• | Place the center pillar inner paneling, clip in the upper center pillar paneling in the lower center pillar paneling. |
- Install the seat belt at front seat.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
- Use the screw locking compound.
- Install the belt trim panel.
Install the panel.
