Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Brake Dust Caution in the Preface section.
Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Caution in the Preface section.
Important: Always replace both brake discs on one axle.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
.
- Remove the front wheel. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
.
- Release the brake hose from the mounting on the spring strut.
• | Remove the retaining plate (1) for the brake hose. |
• | Remove the brake hose out of the mounting. |
- Remove the bolts (2) for the brake carrier from the steering knuckle.
- Remove the brake caliper with the brake carrier and suspend from the spring strut support pipe.
- Remove the locking bolt (3).
- Remove the brake disc.
Installation Procedure
Important: Ensure that the contact surfaces are clean and free from burrs.
- Clean the mating surfaces between the brake disc and the wheel hub.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the brake disc to the front wheel hub with a detent screw.
Tighten
Tighten the detent screw to 7 N·m (62 lb in).
Important: Clean thread and insert bolts with locking compound.
- Install the brake carrier to the steering knuckle with the brake caliper and brake linings.
Tighten
Tighten the brake carrier to 100 N·m (74 lb ft).
- Install the brake hose to the spring strut.
