Removal Procedure
- Release the parking brake cable.
• | Release the parking brake lever. |
• | Detach the parking brake bellows. |
• | Release the parking brake cable by unscrewing adjusting nut. |
Important: Mark position in relation to center of wheel.
- Detach the appropriate rear wheel.
Remove the 4 screws.
- Release the brake caliper.
• | Unhitch the parking brake cable. |
- | Push down brake caliper actuation lever with a screwdriver and detach the parking brake cable. |
- | Pull off the locking plate (3). |
- | Draw parking brake cable out of mounting on brake caliper. |
• | Hold against hexagon of guide pin (2). |
• | Fold brake caliper upwards. |
Important:
• | Brake fluid rises in the reservoir, if necessary siphon with a siphon bottle. |
• | The collar of
KM-6007-30
must point in the direction of the hand wheel or hexagonal section of
KM-6007
. |
- Unscrew the brake piston.
Turn the brake piston back with
KM-6007
(1) and
KM-6007-30
(2).
• | Turn piston back to stop. |
• | Screw piston outwards again until the next cut-out in the brake piston is aligned with the opening on the brake caliper (arrows). |
Important: The brake caliper must be completely removed from the brake carrier before mounting the brake pads.
- Remove the brake caliper from the brake support.
• | Hold against hexagon of guide pin (2). |
• | Detach the brake caliper from the brake carrier. |
• | Suspend the brake caliper from the rear spring with a suitable wire. |
- Remove brake pads and guide plates.
Installation Procedure
Important: Use commercial brake cleaner.
- Clean the brake caliper and brake carrier.
• | Clean the guides for the brake pads in the top and bottom of the brake carrier (2). |
• | Clean contact surfaces of brake pads at the brake piston (1) and the opposite surfaces (arrows) and remove adhesive residues. |
• | Clean threads in the brake caliper. |
Important:
• | The surface/paint coat of the brake lining plate must not be damaged. |
• | Use commercial brake cleaner. |
- Clean the brake pads.
Remove adhesive residue from brake linings.
- If there are leaks in the brake caliper, damage to the protective cap on the piston or the sealing collar of the brake carrier, replace the brake caliper or brake carrier. Refer to
Rear Brake Caliper Replacement
.
Important: Do not detach backing paper on the back of the adhesive film yet. When sticking on the film, ensure the film ends at the rear edge (arrows) of the brake pad.
- Stick new adhesive film onto the brake pads.
Apply adhesive foil (1) to the brake lining plate.
- Insert the guide plates in the brake carrier.
• | Apply special grease to brake carrier below the metal guide sheets (marked surfaces - enlargement 1). |
• | Insert the guide plates (2) in the brake carrier. |
- Install the brake pads.
• | Insert the brake pads in the guide plates on the brake carrier. |
• | Detach backing paper (1) from adhesive film. |
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
Important: Ensure that the guide plates are not twisted and that the adhesive surfaces of the brake pads do not come into contact with the brake caliper until they are positioned correctly.
- Attach the brake caliper to the brake carrier.
• | Place the brake caliper on the brake carrier. |
• | Slide the brake caliper exactly in direction of arrow, from back to front, on brake carrier. |
- | Insert with locking compound. |
- | Hold against hexagon of guide pin. |
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the parking brake cable.
• | Insert parking brake cable in mounting on the brake caliper. |
• | Attach the retaining plate (2). |
• | Push down brake caliper actuation lever (1) with a screwdriver and attach the parking brake cable. |
- Install the rear wheel.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 110 N·m (81 lb ft).
- Actuate the brake pedal repeatedly.
- Start the engine.
- Keep brake pedal depressed for approximately 30 seconds using medium pressure.
- Top up brake fluid to "MAX" mark.
- Adjust the parking brake. Refer to
Park Brake Adjustment
.
