KM-6263 Remover/Installer

Removal Procedure

    Important: 

       • To prevent damage to the spring fangs of the thrust plate use KM-6263 to remove and install the thrust plate.
       • Note the different lengths of the brackets for attaching KM-6263 to the lower engine block.
       • Thrust plate and clutch disc for vehicles with self-adjusting clutch (SAC) are only available in aftersales as a set.

  1. Remove the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement .
  2. Important: KM-6263 may only be attached to the engine block and not to the oil pan.

  3. Attach KM-6263 (1) to the engine block.

    Important: Do not tighten the bolts.

  5. Install the 4 bolts.

  7. Attach KM-6263-30 (4) to centering drift (5) KM-6263-21.
  8. Fasten KM-6263 .
  9. • Align KM-6263 in the center.
    • Insert the centering drift with KM-6263-30 (2) through KM-6263 into the clutch plate and crankshaft center.
    • Tighten the bolt (1).
    • Tighten the bolt (3).
    • Tighten the 4 bolts KM-6263 on the engine block.

  10. Relieve stress on the clutch disc.
  11. • Move KM-6263 (1) so that it rests against the spring tangs of the thrust plate.
    • Turn KM-6263 clockwise to the stop.

  12. Remove the thrust plate from the flywheel.
  13. Remove the 6 bolts.

  14. Detach the thrust plate and clutch plate.
  15. • Turn KM-6263 (1) counterclockwise to the stop.
    • Remove the centering drift with KM-6263-30 (2).

    Important: Clutch plates contaminated by foreign bodies (oil, cleaning agent etc.) must be replaced. Check clutch disc for damage and friction rust in the hub profile and replace if necessary. Do not clean thrust plate and clutch disc with a high pressure cleaner or component washing machine.

  16. Inspect the thrust plate and clutch disc for wear, replace if necessary.
  17. Inspect the clutch plate for wear.
  18. Inspect the projection of the lining at the clutch lining rivets. The clutch plate must be replaced if the lining projection is less than 0.5 mm (0.020 in). Also, press the clutch plate onto the transmission input shaft and check for ease of movement.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1936665  Size: LF

    Important: Lettering transmission side faces the transmission.

  1. Install the clutch disc and thrust plate to the flywheel.
  2. Center the thrust plate and clutch plate with center drift and KM-6263-30 (1).
  3. Important: Do not tighten the bolts.

  4. Install 6 new bolts.
  5. Install the thrust plate to flywheel.
  6. Turn KM-6263 (1).

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  7. Install the 6 bolts. Tighten the bolts crosswise.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the M7 bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  9. Remove KM-6263 (1) from the engine block.
  10. • Turn KM-6263 (3) counterclockwise to the stop.
    • Install the centering drift and KM-6263-30 (2)
    • Remove the 4 bolts KM-6263 on engine block.
  11. Install the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement .
