Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1937078  Size: SH
  1. Remove the engine. Refer to Engine Replacement.
  2. Remove the manual transmission from the engine. Refer to Transmission Replacement.
  3. Remove the automatic transmission from the engine with the torque converter. Refer to Transmission Replacement.
  4. Remove the pressure plate and clutch disc. Refer to Clutch, Pressure Plate, and Pilot Bearing Replacement.
  5. Remove the flywheel. Refer to Engine Flywheel Replacement.
  6. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement.
  7. Remove the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement.
  8. Remove the oil pump module.
  9.    Note: Note the different screw lengths.

    • Remove the 8 bolts (1, 2).
    • Remove the gasket.

  10. Identify all the con-rod bearing caps (1).

  11. Object Number: 1937053  Size: SH
  12. Remove the con-rod bearing caps 1 and 4 (1).
  13. Remove the 4 bolts.

  14. Turn the crankshaft through 180 degrees.

  15. Object Number: 1937048  Size: SH
  16. Remove the con-rod bearing caps 2 and 3 (1).
  17. Remove the 4 bolts.

  18. Identify the crankshaft bearing caps.

  19. Object Number: 1937120  Size: SH
  20. Remove the crankshaft bearing cap (1).
  21. Remove the 10 bolts.

  22. Remove the crankshaft.
  23. Remove the crankshaft bearing clips.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1935559  Size: SH

    Note: Inspect the installation position.

  1. Install the crankshaft bearing clips.
  2. Oil bearing clips.

  3. Install the crankshaft.
  4. Note: Inspect the installation position.

  5. Install the crankshaft bearing caps 1-4.
  6. • Oil bearing clips.
    • Install the 8 bolts.

    Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

    Note: Inspect the installation position.

  7. Install the crankshaft bearing cap.
  8. • Apply the adhesive sealing compound (black) to the grooves of the rear crankshaft bearing cap.
    • Install the 2 bolts.
  9. Tighten the crankshaft bearing cap.
  10. Use new bolts.

    Tighten
    Tighten the 10 bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft) plus 45 degrees plus 15 degrees.

    Note: Inspect the installation position.

  11. Install the con-rod bearing caps 2 and 3.
  12. • Oil bearing clips.
    • Renew the bolts.

    Tighten
    Tighten the 4 bolts to 35 N·m (26 lb ft) plus 45 degrees plus 15 degrees.

  13. Turn the crankshaft through 180 degrees.
  14. Note: Inspect the installation position.

  15. Install the con-rod bearing caps 1 and 4.
  16. • Oil bearing clips.
    • Install new the bolts.

    Tighten
    Tighten the 4 bolts to 35 N·m (26 lb ft) plus 45 degrees plus 15 degrees.

  17. Replace the crankshaft seal ring (rear). Refer to Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal Replacement.
  18. Note: Note the different screw lengths.

  19. Install the oil pump module.
  20. Replace the gasket.

    Tighten
    Tighten the 8 bolts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  21. Seal Ring - Front Crankshaft, Replace. Refer to Crankshaft Front Oil Seal Replacement.
  22. Install the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement
  23. Install the flywheel. Refer to Engine Flywheel Replacement.
  24. Install the pressure plate and clutch disk. Refer to Clutch, Pressure Plate, and Pilot Bearing Replacement.
  25. Replace the drive belt drive gear.
  26. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement.
  27. Install the automatic transmission in engine with torque converter. Refer to Transmission Replacement.
  28. Install the manual transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement.
  29. Install the engine. Refer to Engine Replacement.
