The power window system consists of the following components:
• | Driver window switch |
• | Passenger window switch |
• | Rear window switches |
• | Power window motors |
• | Rear fuse block |
The power window system will operate anytime the retained accessory power (RAP) system is active or when the ignition switch is in the ACCY or ON position.
The driver window switch and passenger window switch switches are normally open, 2 position rocker type switches, with detents for up and down, pressing and holding the switch until the window is greater than a quarter of the way down and releasing the switch will activate the express down feature. The driver window switch rear passenger window switches are normally open, 2 position rocker type switches, with detents for up and down. The driver window switch rear window lockout switch is a push button type switch that provides an active signal to the driver window switch whenever pressed. Whenever the rear window lockout switch is pressed the driver window switch will activate or deactivate the rear window lockout function depending on the current state and illuminate the switch indicator whenever the function is active.
The passenger window switch contains a single power window switch that is an integral component. Closing of this normally open, rocker switch provides the passenger window switch with a request for the front passenger power window operation. The switch for the front passenger window has 2 positions up and down.
The rear passenger door power window switches are normally open, 2 position rocker type switches, with detents for up and down.
All power windows on 3 and 5-door models are equipped with an express down function that is electrically controlled through the rear electrical center. An additional function of the remote keyless entry (RKE) transmitter is the comfort open windows feature. With the vehicle locked, press and hold the unlock button on the transmitter, all power windows will express down.
The driver power window switch contains a window lockout switch. The window lockout switch completes or interrupts the window lockout control circuit. If the window lockout switch is enabled, there is no voltage available at the rear power window switches and rear power window will not operate from the rear power window switches. The rear power windows will operate from the driver power window switch.
