Inflatable Restraint Sensing and Diagnostic Module Programming

When the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic (SDM) module is replaced, the following procedures must be performed:

  1. Replace the SDM module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Sensing and Diagnostic Module Programming and Setup.
  2. Important:

       • The connector and connector position assurance (CPA) may seat independent of each other. Both the connector and CPA should seat with an audible and/or tactile click. The CPA isolates the shorting-bars within the module connector allowing the deployment circuit to operate properly.
       • Prior to programming, verify that all components and CPA connections are in place. Once the SDM program is completed, if there are any differences between the SDM and the SDM sensors and/or inflator modules, this will require a replacement of the SDM.

  3. Verify that all SDM components, deployment loop modules, passenger presence system (PPS), and sensors are connected and that all CPA's are in place.
  4. With a scan tool, perform the Program ECU and follow the screen prompts.
  5. Cycle the ignition from OFF to ON. Verify no DTCs are set. If any DTCs are set, refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle.
