Removal Procedure
- Remove the front wheel. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
- Measure the exposed thread length from the lock nut to thread end of the tie rod.
- Release the lock nut (1).
Counterhold with open-ended wrench on the tie rod end.
- Release the tie rod end from the steering knuckle.
- Remove the tie rod end nut.
- Press the tie rod end out of the steering knuckle using
SA9211T-2 /KM-161-B and KM-161-2 (1).
- Remove the tie rod end from the tie rod.
Installation Procedure
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
Note: First inspect exposed thread length.
- Install the tie rod end to the tie rod.
Tighten
Tighten to 60 N·m (44 lb ft).
- Lock the tie rod end with the lock nut.
Counterhold with an open-ended wrench on the tie rod end.
- Install the tie rod end to the steering knuckle.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 30 N·m (22 lb ft) plus 90 degrees, plus 15 degrees.
- Install the front wheel. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
- Inspect the toe-in, adjust if necessary. Refer to
Wheel Alignment - Steering Wheel Angle and/or Front Toe Adjustment.
