Makes šŸ¢’ Saturn šŸ¢’ 2009 šŸ¢’ Astra šŸ¢’ Suspension šŸ¢’ Suspension General Diagnosis šŸ¢’ Lower Control Arm Ball Joint Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the lower control arm. Refer to Lower Control Arm Replacement.

    2. Object Number: 1947424 Size: SH

    Note: Use a drill bit with 5 mm diameter.

  2. Drill through the 3 rivets, in the center, as a guide line.

    3. Object Number: 1947427 Size: SH

    Note: 

       ā€¢ Be careful not to damage the control arm.
       ā€¢ Use a drill bit with 8 mm diameter. Drill as far as the contact surface, guide line, of the control arm.

  3. Start drilling the 3 rivet heads (1).
    4. ā€¢ Knock off 3 rivet heads carefully with a flat chisel.
    ā€¢ Remove remains of rivets.
    ā€¢ Remove the guide joint.
  4. Coat the holes with corrosion protection material.

Installation Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1947440 Size: SH

    Note: The new guide joint is screwed to the control arm - use special bolts and nuts from "Service" area.

  1. Install the guide joint to control arm.

    2. Tighten
    Tighten the 3 screwed connections (1) to 35 NĀ·m (26 lb ft).

  2. Install the lower control arm. Refer to Lower Control Arm Replacement.
